What is Kintsugi?
Literally, 'kintsugi' means 'join to gold'. It is a Japanese art technique that can repair porcelain or ceramic pieces with gold. Used since the fifteenth century, the technique is attracting more and more. Although it has been used for decades to repair ceramics such as those used in the tea ceremony, it has gradually been exploited on other objects such as figurative porcelain, thus creating unpublished pieces. Not only artistic work, the technique is also the way to save broken objects from waste by repairing them. Better, the repairs, precious, are therefore put forward instead of being hidden.
The art of beautifying by repairing
