The story

Lenny Belardo is clearly better known as Pius XIII, the very first Italian-American Pope of History. A duality of origin that is also found in his way of thinking. And for good reason, the man of the Church shows a conservatism that is very similar to obscurantism ... While showing compassion at all times against the weak, poor, oppressed.

Betrayed by his entourage, panicked at the idea of being abandoned by his God, Pope like no other yet will fight for the faith with all the weapons at his disposal ... Left to cross the boundaries.

Why do we look at The Young Pope?

In all honesty, the first thing that attracts in The Young Pope ... is the presence of Jude Law. At 43, the actor has an impressive filmography, ranging from roles such as that of Sherlock Holmes to Dickie Greenleaf in Le Talentueux M. Riplay . Very present at the cinema, his appearances on the small screen are at least anecdotal. Hence the interest of seeing it in a series.

Especially since the main interested is also known for his escapades, such as his infidelities. Very focused on sex, it is difficult to imagine Jude Law in a series on religion. What makes the project even more interesting: the actor will have to do a real job on himself to divest himself of this sexual side. A performance, in short.

The Young Pope: what did we like?

The Young Pope is the new series of the Canal stable, and just for that, it promises to be a sure bet. For some years now, the encrypted channel has established itself as the French reference in terms of series. Another guarantee of confidence: the series must also land on HBO in February 2017. A size, since the channel has made us discover Game of Thrones , Girls or Westworld.

With the names of Diane Keaton, Silvio Orlando, Cécile de France and Ludivine Sagnier, The Young Pope is also impressed by her casting, and by her creator and showrunner : Paolo Sorrentino ( La Grande Bellezza , Il Divo ... ) . Jude Law stands out as a somewhat rock'n'roll pope who carves on cigarettes and Coca-Cola® . Worked in great detail, the series also has a small side of House of Cards that is not to displease us.
