Tips from Cut By Fred, Dyson Supersonic Ambassador

Did you know ? Fred began his career by being the assistant of the greatest! Thanks to his blog (and his talent!), He quickly became our star capillary 2.0, and people scramble to make an appointment in his living room of the 10th arrondissement.

What is the secret of a perfect blow-dry?

For me, there are four main tips to know.

- Have good gear! If you brush yourself with your grandmother's old hair dryer, you're badly helpless. The Dyson Supersonic is a small revolution for both novices and pros!

- Begin by pre-drying your hair to save time. If you start on soaked hair, it lasts 2 h 15 and we lose patience! So, remember to wring them well, before drying them for a few minutes without brushing them.

- Work by section separating the head into three wicks (both sides and behind).

- Bring a big brush: it's easier than a small one. With a small brush, we are sure to finish with the hair completely tangled.

A trick to avoid the "sparkling " effect on the lengths ?

To avoid foamy hair, or frizz, you must have a healthy hair preferably, so treat her hair before and after the shampoo; before with oil baths, for example, and after with a mask. Then, drying the hair oneself decreases the frizziness compared to drying in the open air. Use the Dyson Supersonic lengthwise to smooth frizz. Curly hair: opt for the diffuser tip to coat the curls and avoid the sparkling side.

How to hold loops all day long when you have smooth hair ?

We are not equal, unfortunately! While some hair fits perfectly, others do not hold at all, because they are too heavy. We can not do anything sometimes.

Otherwise, two possibilities exist. If you have already wavy hair, you can accentuate the loop with a texturizing spray, such as surf spray, or a foam for loops. Then dry with a diffuser tip, the natural curls will be revealed and will hold all day.

If you have straight hair, you must tighten the blow dry to keep a looped / flexible effect for as long as possible. Start by creating small rolls with your brush, and use flat-nose pliers to let the coiled bits cool, much like a styling.

john-nollet

The advice of John Nollet

Known for perfectly taming the manes of the greatest movie stars, John is a hairdresser who masters absolutely all styles (Johnny Depp's dreadlocks in Pirates of the Caribbean Islands or Amélie Poulain's square are his creations). Between scissors, we asked him a few questions.

How to get around split ends ?

When our tips become worn and damaged, for John, two solutions: cut them or assume them!

If you like the clean and straight effect, in this case, it's time to go through a small cutting refresh, especially if your hair is straight and very thin.

But we can also play on the Parisian side, which is very trendy on long hair, and give the illusion of a non-cut by "styling" its forks. To do this, wrap them with a care without rinsing to draw them: guaranteed effect!

How to manage a fringe that repels ?

When the bangs start to be too long, there is a technique to not have it constantly in the eyes. Draw a line in the middle and separate the bangs in half, so that it comes to blend in with the rest of the hair. To fix the cut: wet your bangs and use the finest directional tip of the Dyson Supersonic to dry, while placing it on the sides using only your fingers.

A trick to have more volume ?

For a nice volume at the roots, I apply my favorite product, the "volume maker" of Shu Uemura, on dry hair, then I come "warm the product" using the diffuser tip of the Dyson Supersonic, which I place at the roots upside down, taking off well with your fingers. An essential step to perform before any type of brushing. And nothing prevents us from changing the tip of the hair dryer if we want a smoothed effect on the lengths.

Well-known hairdresser and colorist, his cardboard technique, and his products even more! We do not present you its oil with lavender, or its cleansing cream with lemon, become cult products and essential.

What is your morning gesture to pamper your hair before styling ?

In the morning, I use my new hydrating mist with aloe vera, for a quick shot of hydration, then my regenerating balm with the rare oil of prickly pear, a multipurpose concentrated care at once nourishing, repairing, protective and styling; the product to take everywhere with you!

If your hair tends to tarnish in winter, I recommend my wheat germ range! The shampoo and the fixative mask of color are perfect to make shine while preserving the intensity of the color. Their acidic pH makes it possible to tighten the scales of the hair and fix the pigments.

How to get a smooth blow dry with a hair dryer ?

I advise to use at first my regenerating mask and my regenerating shampoo with the rare oil of fig of barbarie, because they will repair the hair in depth and smooth them. Some of the work will already be done!

Then use a suitable brush. Metal brushes are to be banned because they boil the water in the hair. The ideal is to use a boar bristle brush, like my pre-curved twelve-row brushing brush.

When brushing, orient the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer so that the heat comes from above. Choose the brushing concentrator nozzle for precise, high-speed airflow. The concentration of air makes it possible to comb the hair by wick; ideal for blow drying.

What care to use before curly blow drying ?

Before styling, on wet and well wrung hair, spray, upside down, my natural volume mist with rose water on the roots and lengths. Then put curlers and re-spray a little mist. Heat for one minute with the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer and its diffuser tip, then let the curlers cool for ten minutes before removing them. Your hair will be styled without dehydration, and you will get volume and pretty curls!
