The sandal K Jacques, a family story

The story begins in 1933 with Jacques and Elise Keklikian. A couple of Armenian refugees. Starting from scratch, they decided to open a small shop-workshop at 39 rue Allard in Saint Tropez. They will call him K Jacques, in reference to his first name and the initials of their name.

In the shop, they make leather sandals that start from the same technique as the sandal Tropezienne already very popular at the time. To distinguish themselves, they use their craftsmanship and their creativity offering a sandal of quality, both elegant and timeless. A successful bet, since three generations later, their children continue to transmit this know-how. A strength that made the long-term success of this family business.

K Jacques, a sandal with the times

To stay in the race and not run out of steam, K Jacques understood that we had to stay in tune with the times and never stop innovating.

From the 90s , they decided to offer, in addition to their classic models, creations resulting from collaboration. Very trendy, these associations with claws or influential personalities such as Karl Lagerfeld, Kenzo, Kookai, Courrèges, Balenciaga, Lolita Lempika, Helmut Lang, Givenchy, Jerome Lhuillier, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Missoni, Paco Rabanne, or Isabelle Marant assert their fashion status and extend their notoriety to a wider audience.

The stars, his first fans

K Jacques quickly created the craze among stars looking for a product that meets both aesthetic and quality criteria. The small shop of Saint-Tropez with traditional know-how, immediately seduced them. Models, simple and rare, are initially found in a single point of sale. Every summer, they attract artists, painters, writers, French filmmakers and foreigners on holiday in the city of the south of France. Among them, Brigitte Bardot, Jean Reno, Cocteau, Picasso, or Colette.

Since then, the succession is assured. Diane Kruger, Kate Moss, Emma Watson, Gisele Bundchen, Liv Tayler, or Jessica Alba swear by her for their summer outfits.

Exported worldwide, on five continents, in more than 250 points of sale around the world and on its online store, the small family business that has become essential today, has established itself and its creations, timeless and emblematic pieces of French know-how.
