To voluntarily make a shoe so that our feet benefit from more comfort? It is an idea that may seem absurd but that has made the success of Geox, the Italian brand whose credo is "the shoe that breathes". Welcome behind the scenes of the brand!

From system D to success story

The story of the origins of the "breathing shoe" can be a smile. Mario Moretti Polegato (now founder and CEO of the Geox Group) has the idea to drill the sole of his shoes to aerate the floor during a stroll in the Nevada Desert in the 1990s her feet, bruised by the heat. What should only have been a pair of shoes destined to finish in the trash has become an innovation. The creator decides to tackle the sole to make it waterproof and breathable and then file a patent. But if he is sure of his concept, he struggles to win the trust of potential investors. Mario Moretti Polegato then decided to found the company that will commercialize his technology. In 1995, Geox was born!

How does the Geox shoe breathe?

This is the tour de force of Geox: offering the same properties of comfort and waterproofness as a classic rubber outsole by allowing the feet to stay healthy. To achieve this, the rubber sole must be perforated and a special diaphragm inserted inside the shoe . The secret of Geox technology lies at the heart of this membrane. It has micropores larger than a molecule of water vapor: sweat can therefore be evacuated. But these micropores are smaller than a drop of water: when it rains, the water can not go the opposite way and get into our shoes. Result? Walking is more comfortable and feet healthier! Yes, these shoes really breathe.
