If the literary saga of Elena Ferrante will be discovered in series on HBO at first, it will then arrive on Canal . And since four books exist, the last of which was released in January 2018, there will be four seasons. The first, composed of eight episodes of 52 minutes, piloted by Saverio Costanzo, will thus stage the first novel, "The prodigious friend."

"The prodigious friend" is the story of a friendship that runs through the ages. The novel recounts the relationship between two women - Elena and Lila - from a neighborhood in Naples in the early 1950s. Each volume tells a story of their lives, from childhood to adulthood, and in "prodigious friend" it is about their childhood and their adolescence. HBO unveiled the first images of the first season with the two heroines chosen to play Lila and Elena.

After more than eight months of casting during which they saw nearly 9,000 children and 500 adults, four Italian actresses were selected for this saga: two children (Elisa Del Genio who will play Elena and Ludovica Nasti who will play Lila) and two adults (Margherita Mazzucco who will play Elena as an adult and Gaia Girace who will play Lila as an adult).

To know that the mysterious writer Elena Ferrante, who has hidden her identity for almost twenty years, has participated in the writing of the episodes with the screenwriter Francesco Piccolo and the producer Laura Paolucci ... The three following seasons will stick to the three volumes written after "The prodigious friend". Volume 2, "The New Name", occurs in the 60s, when they are young adults, and Volume 3, "The one who flees and the one who stays" tells the life after their studies. Throughout the pages, we discover two women who live in a post-war Italy in full change, which will emanciperate as and when. The two are very much alike, and have a strong bond between love and hate, like two sisters who have too much in common. As for volume 4, "The lost child", it evokes their maturity and their new life.

No date has been communicated as for the diffusion of the series on Canal , but before seeing the saga in teaser, one discovers little by little the images ...
