To celebrate the International Year of Biodiversity , celebrated around the world this year, the Ministry of Sustainable Development will engage in various projects to explain to the French the issues related to the protection of flora and fauna and to promote national programs .

Upstream of the Sustainable Development Week, the Planète Durable event will take place at the Porte de Versailles in Paris from March 25 to 28 . The public will be invited to discover all the innovations of brands and the industry in favor of the environment .

Then, throughout this week dedicated to the environment, from the 1st to the 7th of April, various activities will be offered to the public all over France. In particular, " Amazonas film festival de Manaus " was organized at the UGC La Défense cinema throughout the week. A dozen French and foreign films on the themes of the environment and the protection of biodiversity will be broadcast .

From the 1st to the 6th of April, the ministry will invite visitors to " My House to Act ", located rue de l'Amiral de Coligny in Paris (1st arrondissement). This house, entirely designed for the protection of the environment, is in the form of a building low consumption of 80m ². It was realized by Michel Chevalet, journalist and the architect François Pelegrin.

In the provinces, tourists can visit a sewage treatment plant in Chambéry (Savoie) or the EDF Thermal Power Station in Porcheville (Yvelines). Performances and animations throughout France await also the apprentices ecologists and ecologists confirmed such as a parade on the subject of climate change at the town hall of the Chapel St Luc Cat in the Aube.

For this 8th edition of Sustainable Development Week , the ministry has launched a call for projects throughout France and nearly 3,000 cities and municipalities have responded, for now. In 2009, more than 4,000 events including exhibitions, visits, film screenings and debates were created for this ecological week.
