Unlike pockets of water retention that fade after proper drainage , the pockets caused by a greasy hernia in the lower eyelid are surgical.

They are often hereditary and are accentuated with age because the greasy cushion that protects the eye from the bone walls rises under a skin less and less tonic. To get rid of only one solution: surgery.

A quick action, without sequelae, which offers definitive results whatever our age.

The transconjunctival method: for the youngest

For who ? All those whose skin has a good elasticity.

How does it happen ? After a preliminary blood test and consultation with an anesthesiologist, an empty stomach is taken in the operating room. Under a mild sedation, supplemented by a local anesthetic (for some anxious people a general, rapid and shallow anesthesia can be proposed), the surgeon makes a laser incision through the conjunctiva, this red part inside the eyelid and removes the fatty hernia. The act lasts about thirty minutes.

The suites: this is an outpatient procedure and after 3 to 4 hours you can go home. But not at the wheel of his car! The results are immediately visible. No scars. The threads gradually dissolve. No pain, sometimes a slight swelling. A small dressing is kept for 4 to 5 days under the eye. The surgeon is seen again for checking a few weeks later.

Contraindications: as with any surgical procedure, you should not suffer from blood problems. If you are under anticoagulant (even aspirin) the treatment is stopped a few days before. We wear sunglasses for 4 to 5 days and of course we also avoid sunbathing.

The price: approximately 4000 €, not reimbursed by the Social Security, which include the rental of the operating room, the services of the anesthesiologist and the surgeon.

When the skin relaxes: the palpebral facelift

For who ? All those whose fatty hernia is associated with a relaxation of the muscles and skin of the lower eyelid.

How does it happen ? As before, a blood test and an appointment with the anesthetist is planned. We arrive on an empty stomach. The anesthetist practices general sedation, shallow and rapid. The surgeon pricks the lower lashes, removes the fat pocket and tightens the skin of the eyelid. The operation lasts from 30 to 45 minutes.

The follow-up: The intervention is done on an outpatient basis and we leave half a day later. The resorbable sutures are supplemented by steristrips (adhesive skin sutures) which are kept for about six days. The pain, very bearable, can nevertheless be relieved by analgesics. Blues, swelling, remain for a week. The results are visible after 15 days to three weeks when the surgeon is seen again. Since the incision was made at the level of the eyelashes, there is no scar. The look is opened again, rejuvenates.

Contraindications: blood problems. Sunbathing for a few weeks. We wear sunglasses even after the disappearance of bruises.

The price: about 7000 € which includes the rental of the operating room, the benefits of the anesthesiologist and the surgeon.
