Give birth at home , a phenomenon that is becoming more and more trendy. In France in the 1950s, 45% of deliveries took place at home compared to only 1% today. However, the practice is returning to the front of the scene and expectant mothers who dream of fleeing the hospital are more and more numerous. Indeed for several years, some women are wishing to opt for a more " natural " approach. The goal: to " reclaim " childbirth, to live it more intimate, at home, with the family. However, a real gap exists between this rising demand and its low practice because France does not have enough wise liberal women ready to "dare to do it".

Professor Cabrol, head of maternity services at Port-Royal and Saint-Vincent-de-Paul in Paris, underlines the dangerous nature of this phenomenon: " I think only of home delivery sickness! Whatever one says, it is not without risks . Would it be reasonable to give life at home when 10% of women who wanted to give birth at home end up in the hospital?

For her part, Cara, a midwife in New York for 30 years, helps happily women who choose to give birth at home: "When I go to a patient, I take all precautions. I bring the same drugs as the obstetricians, but I only use them if it is mandatory. [...] I also have an oxygen mask to revive the baby if he is born without breathing. But as soon as a complication occurs, I escort my patients to the hospital . "

And you what do you think ? Are you for home birth?
