"Jicky" by Guerlain

1889, the year of possibilities and crazy projects. The Eiffel tower conquers the sky, electricity makes sparks, and Aimé Guerlain longs for a love of youth and wishes to dedicate a perfume to him. And this tribute is none other than "Jicky", a bold mix for women, who sulk for nearly forty years. Men, for their part, love it and give it, without knowing it, a mix that has hitherto been inconceivable in the world of perfumery.

"Jicky", animal scents in the service of femininity

Guerlain's "Jicky" is not content to join several scents together. It upsets the conventions of perfumery so far focused on copying the smell of flowers, generating emotions now. To do this, the young designer decides to strike a big blow to explode the scents: in addition to the top note composed of lavender , bergamot and rosemary that clearly mark the masculine side, Guerlain adds a more floral heart note for the feminine aspect. It is above all the base note that makes all the difference with vanillin associated with animal notes , a real revolution in the manufacture of perfume. The fragrance is enveloping and warm, with a very strong personality.

"Jicky", when luxury meets industrial

What a strange bottle that "Jicky"! Imagined by Gabriel, the brother of Aimé Guerlain, this bottle is amazing, but it appeals to both women and men. Two distinct elements compose it: a stopper, freely inspired by those of the bottles of champagne, evoking the party, the dynamism and the romanticism; the bottle, for its part, is very clearly a replica of the pharmacy bottles, thus marking the more popular and industrial aspect which characterizes perfectly these years of the end of the century. This mix that could (d) wonder works wonderfully and welcomes the precursor juice to his direct descendant, which will also make the glory of the house Guerlain: "Shalimar " .
