Unlike the wasp and the hornet, the bee can sting only once . The specificity of a bee sting? The sting of the animal remains planted in the skin and the bee dies immediately. In the case of a sting of this type, the sting must be removed immediately , taking care not to force too much to prevent more venom spreading to the level of the bobo.

How to cure a wasp sting?

In any case, we act quickly to limit the spread of venom in the body.

- Heated by applying the heat of the bite as quickly as possible to destroy the venom. The temperature must be lower than 50 ° C, we can use a cigarette, a match, a candle ...

- We wash . With water and soap the area is washed before applying antiseptic or, if not, a few drops of lemon.

- Itchy? We take 3 granules of Apis mellifica 15 CH every 15 min by spacing on improvement, and apply a compress soaked infusion of Roman chamomile. If it continues to blush and swell, take 3 granules of Echinacea angustifolia every 15 min by gradually spacing, apply plantain leaves and take a lithium bulb at bedtime.

- We consult . If the wound is red, hot and / or the pain persists for more than 48 hours, go to the doctor. In the case of a sting in the throat, act quickly by sucking on an ice cube and immediately consult a doctor or the emergency room of a hospital. In case of multiple stings (more than 20 in adults), we go to the hospital to prevent a toxic reaction.

Wasp, bee, hornet, drone ... what are the risks?

If in most cases an insect bite is very painful but not serious, some complications may occur. Especially in people allergic to venom and in case of multiple bites. There are 3 types of reactions:

  • A local reaction is the least serious. The bite is accompanied by swelling of a few centimeters and localized redness . This sting is painful and sometimes itchy. Depending on the location of the sting, the swelling may be more or less important. If this type of sting usually has little consequence, it can still become dangerous in the case of a sting in the throat or mouth, cases in which the swelling can cause a risk of choking.
  • A toxic reaction. It is called toxic reaction when the amount of venom injected is greater, which usually results in many bites on the body. As a reminder, a bee injects about 50 to 100 μg of venom with each bite, and the wasp 2 at 10 μg. The toxic reaction combines the symptoms of the local reaction, associated with a multitude of more general symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, headaches and even loss of consciousness.
  • An allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock). In people with allergies to bee venom, wasp, etc. a single bite is enough to cause anaphylactic shock , ie an exacerbated allergic reaction with serious consequences and potentially life-threatening ... It is manifested by a rash with severe itching, swelling of the face, dizziness , pallor, difficulty breathing ... In this case we call the 100 or 112 for emergency transport to the hospital. The victim is put to bed and his feet are raised while waiting for help to arrive.
