The secret of a successful curly bun is to ensure a flawless outfit. For that, it is necessary to prepare the hair. Emilie Rondeau, trainer ghd, gives us her tips to make a nice bun curly, chic and timeless.

First of all, do not panic if you have the cut squared, you can easily fit a curly bun on a long square. "It takes a minimum long squared length touching the shoulders, but this kind of bun is achievable on all types of hair," reassures Emilie Rondeau.

Little trick before starting to do the hairstyle, the hair too clean slip, so we shampoo the day before.

"It is also advisable to texturise the hair before making the loops, using foam, spray volume, special spray for loops ...".

We can also crimp the support to keep the bun in place because the pins - which will be used to fix the hairstyle - will be better "hooked".

Straightener, styler, looper: indispensable tools

On dry hair, Emilie Rondeau advises to apply a spray designed to hold the curls. It is applied wick, it protects the hair from heat (iron) and texturize the material.

Then, with a styler, straightener or looper, whichever you prefer, we make loops on the whole of the hair.
In styling, it is positioned on a wick at the root, it makes a half-turn with it and we slide slowly to the tip.
With a curling iron, wick a wick around the heating tip, wait 5 to 8 seconds before removing the device. "This step can be done quickly and does not require perfectly identical loops because it is a hairstyling base. Thus, it is not disturbing that some undulations are more sustained than others, "explains Emilie Rondeau. The loops are then allowed to cool.

Long or medium hair: the steps for a successful curly bun

For long hair, one or more ties are made at the desired level of the bun (in the middle of the neck or on the side), leaving the locks surrounding the face free. We then slightly twist the wicks taken in the clip and then fix them randomly with bun pins. With the front locks, repeat the same operation by twisting them and then fix them in the bun.

For mid-long hair (shoulder length), we slightly crimp and then twist a wick until a small bun at the desired bun. It is fixed with pins and lacquered. Then, we wick the hair left loose, starting with the strands closest to the bun, then we fix them with pins randomly on or around the bun. We end with the outline of the face.

Finally, the curly bun is liberally attached with lacquer. The more you want a "loose" effect, the more you need to space the attachment points of the wicks, and show yourself generous on the fixing product.
